What does the insurance for journalists, medical workers, volunteers, drivers, and representatives of voluntary territorial defense units cover?
- Traumatic injuries to tissues and organs of the body with a breach of their integrity and functions, deformation, or disturbance of the musculoskeletal system caused by external influences (injuries);
- Wounds;
- Anaphylactic shock;
- Asphyxia due to accidental inhalation of foreign bodies or fluids into the respiratory tract;
- Drowning;
- Lightning strikes, electric shock;
- Heatstroke;
- Burns (except sunburns); frostbite; overheating; hypothermia;
- Bites from animals, insects, snakes;
- Accidental poisoning by gases, industrial and household chemicals, poisonous plants, medicines, contaminated foodstuffs;
- Suffocation;
- Injuries sustained during transportation accidents, when using vehicles, machinery, tools, work equipment;
- Diseases such as rabies, tetanus, botulism, malaria, tick-borne encephalitis, poliomyelitis, hematogenous osteomyelitis;
- Other sudden, accidental, short-term, unforeseen, and independent of the will of the Insured Beneficiary, resulting in health disorders or death of the Insured Person.
What is the coverage amount under the «OUR CATS» insurance program?
The insurance coverage amount is 100 000 UAH.
So, if the abdominal cavity is affected in a gunshot wound, the payout will be 50% - 50 000 UAH. Such an injury often accompanies a rib fracture. An additional 15% of the insurance amount will be paid for this, which is 15,000 hryvnias. Thus, the total payout will be 65 000 UAH.
Who cannot be insured under this contract?
The insured persons cannot be:
- declared legally incapacitated according to the established legislation;
- citizens with disabilities of groups I-II;
- volunteers of the territorial defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- military personnel of the Armed Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, the State Security Service, the State Special Communications and Information Protection Service, the State Transport Special Service, military prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General, personnel of the State Emergency Service and the State Penitentiary Service, employees of the Judicial Protection Service, personnel of the special operations management of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and police officers.
- Ukrainian citizens under 18 and over 70 years of age.
What age range can insured individuals be?
Ukrainians aged 18 to 70 years old.
Where does the insurance for journalists, medical workers, volunteers, and drivers «OUR CATS» operate?
The policy is valid throughout the territory of Ukraine, except for the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and settlements of Ukraine where the authorities temporarily do not exercise their powers.

What to do in case of an insurance event?

In the event of an incident that meets the criteria of an insurance event, the Insured Person/Policyholder must notify the Insurer within three working days by any means that allow for the notification to be recorded (in writing, by phone, by fax, or by email), followed by a written notification.

In the event of the death of the Insured Person due to an accident, the written notification must be sent to the Insurer by the Policyholder within 2 weeks from the date of the insurance event.

The Insured Person must notify the Insurer in writing of any traumatic injuries within 10 working days after the completion of treatment.

The insurance payment is made by the Insurer according to the terms of the insurance contract based on the written application of the insurance payment recipient and the insurance certificate prepared by the Insurer based on documents confirming the occurrence of the insurance event.

Failure by the Insured Person/Policyholder to timely notify the Insurer of the occurrence of the insurance event according to the terms of the insurance contract gives the latter the right to refuse insurance payment.
To confirm the occurrence of an accident, the following documents must be provided:
- Written application for insurance payment according to the form determined by the Insurer.
- Documents issued by competent authorities containing information about the date, time, circumstances, and causes of the accident.
- Medical documents from the healthcare institution specifying the place, date, and time of the accident, the date and time of seeking medical attention, diagnosis, type of injury, event leading to the accident, as well as a conclusion regarding the presence of alcohol or drug intoxication of the Insured Person at the time of the accident.
- Death certificate in case of the Insured Person's death.
- Document identifying the recipient of the insurance payment, taxpayer identification number.
- Bank statement confirming the opening or existence of the Beneficiary's bank account with details for transferring funds (providing account details obtained through internet banking is allowed).
- Other documents as required by the Insurer, which are relevant for recognizing the event as an insurance case and/or clarifying the facts, causes, and circumstances of the event qualifying as an insurance case, and determining the amount of insurance payment.
Documents are provided to the Insurer in the form of original copies or notarized copies, or plain copies provided that the possibility of verifying this copy with the original copy of the document is provided, or an electronic copy of the original paper document. An electronic copy of the original paper document (photocopy) is a visual representation of a paper document in electronic form, obtained by scanning (photographing) the paper document, the conformity of the original and the legal status of which is certified by a qualified electronic signature. The Beneficiary, when providing electronic copies of paper documents to the Insurer, bears full responsibility for the presence of the originals of the documents provided and is obliged to provide the original documents to the Insurer at its first request within the period specified by the Insurer.

The application and documents for receiving insurance compensation must be provided to the Insurer no later than 90 calendar days from the date of the event that may qualify as an insurance case. If the documents are submitted beyond this period, the Insurer reserves the right to refuse insurance compensation.
